Tuomas Rauhala was born in Vimpeli, Finland. He started playing the drums at the age of 9. Rauhala says: "I began my studies playing classical percussion but found my love for Jazz, Fusion, Rock and Metal very early." After graduating from Kaustinen College Of Music at the age of 19, Tuomas moved to Finland´s capital Helsinki. In Helsinki he studied the drums at Helsinki Pop/Jazz Conservatory and Metropolia University Of Applied Sciences.
Tuomas is known from his diverse drumming style with his bands such as FOR THE IMPERIUM and GRAND DISCOVERY. Besides performing with his own bands Tuomas has worked with various artists and projects including MIKAEL GABRIEL, KASMIR, REDRAMA,ANNA ABREU, WALTTERI TORIKKA, SAARA AALTO, LAURA VOUTILAINEN, POETS OF THE FALL, JOHN PATITUCCI, PAUL GILBERT and ANDRE NIERI. Tuomas has also played drums on PUTOUS TV show.
Tuomas is an active drum teacher and has founded HAHTO & RAUHALA DRUM CAMP
